Paracetamol preparations:  The first choice when fever-reducing and pain-relieving medicine is needed. Within the recommended dosage, paracetamol is well tolerated by most people and has few side effects.

NSAIDs: NSAIDs are short for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and are a group of active substances (ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac and acetylsalicylic acid are those available without a prescription) that have an anti-inflammatory effect in addition to being antipyretic and pain relievers. There are more side effects and precautions associated with NSAIDs than with paracetamol.

What types of pain relievers are there?

Many active substances are found in various pharmaceutical forms. Choose a pharmaceutical form that suits your needs. Is the taste most important, or is quick effect the most important?

*  Contains a lot of sodium (salt) and should therefore not be used for a long time. People who need to be careful with their salt intake should avoid these. Caution must be exercised by people with high blood pressure, impaired heart and/or kidney function.
