Paracetamol preparations: The first choice when fever-reducing and pain-relieving medicine is needed. Within the recommended dosage, paracetamol is well tolerated by most people and has few side effects.
NSAIDs: NSAIDs are short for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and are a group of active substances (ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac and acetylsalicylic acid are those available without a prescription) that have an anti-inflammatory effect in addition to being antipyretic and pain relievers. There are more side effects and precautions associated with NSAIDs than with paracetamol.
